This Tribute collection is produced in memory of our parents who started us on a life-long love of music. Their encouragement went way beyond the years of lessons and unending praise. Brian's father was a luthier who built every wooden instrument imaginable, from Renaissance lute to hammered dulcimer, also a medieval hurdygurdy, and countless guitars. On our first 3 CDs, and again on this one, Brian is playing one of his father's guitars. Robin's mother was a violinmaker, and Robin has played the custom violin built for her by her mother since 1986.
And there's more. Our parents never met, but when Margaret Warren passed in 2004, many of her treasured tools were passed along to Brian's father.When Herb Clancey passed in 2013, we discovered that he had been using Margaret's tools. What a wonderful connection between these two craftsmen! So the tools, and the instruments they built, are pictured in our CD, along with wedding photos and more recent photos of these 2 lucky couples who found their sweethearts early in life and were smart enough to marry them.
Our love of French musette continues on this album with several selections: Sous le ciel de Paris, Paris Memories, Indifference, and Valse Hindoue. Calvin Vollrath is a huge influence; we have included his Brian's Country and his version of Willow Springs. Over the Rainbow needs no introduction. Our La Golondrina features melody guitar and 3 fiddles. As for Latin Leprechaun, well, you'll hear banjo, double fiddle, pizzicato, and toy piano!
